In a recent EU ministers’ meeting, consensus on #newgenomictechniques (#NGTs) and #geneediting remained elusive. The discussions around NGTs, especially their coexistence with #organic farming and #patentability issues, are crucial for shaping a sustainable and diverse agricultural future.
While we recognize the concerns of countries with strong organic farming traditions, we also see the potential of gene editing as a catalyst for addressing #environmental #challenges. We are #optimistic that a balanced and inclusive approach will emerge among EU members, allowing us to contribute significantly to both the EU and global markets.
As we await developments on a potential legal framework by 2025, our #commitment to #innovation and #sustainability stands stronger than ever.
